The Aristocats
It’s hard to entertain four kids of different ages, but direct tv proved to be there for me again this afternoon when my kids sat riveted for the entire length of Disneys Aristocats. Getting kids that are two, three, five, and six to sit still for more than 20 minutes is a real chore. They didn’t move for an hour thanks to this movie. I’ve used Direct TV many times to find them different movies to watch from time to time, and it proves to be one of the best things that I have ever done.
The Aristocats is an animated film about a cat family in Paris. They are the spoiled and pampered pets of a very wealthy old woman. She loves the cats dearly, and realizes that it’s time in her life to make a will. Since she has no living relatives, she decides to leave her entire fortune to her cats. This statement is overheard by her greedy butler Edgar and he decides that the cats have got to go!
Duchess and her adorable three kittens are whisked off into the French countryside and dropped in a ditch. When they wake up the next morning and find themselves lost, they are rescued by an interesting character. J. Thomas O’Malley, or O’Malley for short, is a smooth talking alley cat that happens by Duchess while out for a stroll in the country. The group finds themselves on a huge adventure trying to get back to their home in Paris and their owner who misses them dearly. They meet many interesting characters along the way, including a group of swingin` cats that play music.
This movie is great for adults and children of all ages. If you let your kids watch this movie, don’t be surprised to have them running around the house singing “Everybody Wants to Be a Cat” and the other great tunes from the movie. As a mom, I give this movie a definite 5 stars, three for the quality of the movie and two for my own peace of mind.
